Pennsylvania School Counselor Certification

School counselors in Pennsylvania serve more than 1.7 million students. Because the effectiveness of counseling programs depends on successful implementation of comprehensive programming, school counselors develop guidance plans for each campus, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders who make up the District Advisory Council:

  • Teachers and Administrators
  • Students
  • Parents
  • Business and Community Leaders
  • Post-Secondary Education Representatives

Using the American School Counselors Association Framework, Pennsylvania counselors incorporate prevention and intervention services for students at all grade levels.

For more information about how Pennsylvania counselors support each student’s ultimate personal, academic, and college/career success, view the school counselor assessment rubric.
