North Dakota School Counselors
The educational setting in North Dakota is changing and school counselors are one group of educators who stand to gain.
With the onset of much publicity and outward pressure, North Dakota has been forced to begin assessing their shortcomings with a more trained eye. If pressure is not coming from the government, it is coming from private industries who are offering distinctions of one name or another in order to recognize educational improvements.
In a December 10th, 2007 press release from the North Dakota Department of Education, the following quote was posted regarding the Panasonic National School Change Awards:
"The Panasonic Corporation of North America and the US Department of Education are conducting and sponsoring a national change awards ceremony in New York City in July. Nominations are being accepted for recognition of schools that have significantly changed, grown and improved. A $5000 check will be presented to each of six winning schools at the ceremony."
With added incentives and pressure for improvement, North Dakota school counselors will find their expertise more in need and as a result will find their jobs much more secure with increasing salaries.
